WHO targets elimination of toxic trans fat food as five billion people still at risk

WHO advocates for the global elimination of industrially produced trans fat, citing that at least 5 billion people still remain at risk of heart disease and death. The target deadline for this call to action is set for 2023 with at least 43 countries already adopting best practices for eradicating trans fat. According to WHO’s Director General, « …eliminating trans fat is cost effective and has enormous benefits for health. Put simply, trans fat is a toxic chemical that kills, and should have no place in food. It’s time to get rid of it once and for all.”
